Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place on a stable, flat surface.

  1. Charging the Battery: Connect the AC adapter to the DC IN jack and plug into a wall outlet. Charge fully before first use.
  2. Connecting to TV: Use the supplied AV cable to connect AV OUT to your TV's video/audio input.
  3. Inserting Discs: Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the tray, place disc label-side up, and close the tray.
  4. Powering On: Press POWER button; the Sony logo will appear on screen.

WARNING! Do not expose to extreme temperatures or moisture. Use only the supplied AC adapter.

First-Time Use

After initial charge, power on the player.

  1. Set Language: Use the SETUP menu to select your preferred language (default is ENGLISH).
  2. Screen Settings: Adjust brightness and contrast via the SETUP menu for optimal viewing.
  3. Audio Settings: Select stereo or surround sound mode if supported by the disc.

Picture: Adjust brightness, contrast, color, and sharpness via SETUP menu. Audio: Select stereo, mono, or virtual surround. Setup: Language, TV type (4:3, 16:9), parental lock, default settings. Playback: Repeat (title/chapter/track), slow motion, frame advance.

Connecting to External Devices

TV Connection: Use AV OUT to TV's composite input. Headphones: Plug into headphone jack for private listening.

  1. Ensure player and TV are turned off before connecting cables.
  2. Connect yellow (video), white (left audio), and red (right audio) plugs to corresponding TV inputs.
  3. Turn on TV and select the correct input source (e.g., AV1).
  4. Turn on player; video will appear on TV if connected properly.

Tip: For best picture quality, use high-quality AV cables and keep them away from power cords.

Playing Discs

Supports DVD-Video, audio CDs, and MP3 CDs.

  1. Insert Disc: Press OPEN/CLOSE, place disc correctly, close tray.
  2. Play: Press PLAY; use numeric buttons to select title/chapter or arrows for navigation.
  3. Pause/Stop: Press PAUSE to pause; press STOP once for temporary stop, twice to return to start.
  4. Skip: PREV/NEXT to skip chapters or tracks.
  5. Repeat: Press REPEAT to cycle through repeat modes (off, chapter, title, track).
  6. Zoom: Press ZOOM to magnify area of screen (2x, 4x).
  7. Angle/Subtitle: Use ANGLE or SUBTITLE buttons if disc supports multiple angles/subtitles.
  8. Resume Playback: Last memory function resumes from where you stopped (if not fully stopped).

WARNING! Do not move the player while a disc is spinning. Do not use damaged or irregularly shaped discs.

Parental Controls & Settings

Parental Control: Restrict playback based on movie ratings (G, PG, PG-13, R, etc.). Access via SETUP menu; default password is 0000. Closed Captions: Enable/disable via SETUP menu if disc supports it.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug the AC adapter before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the screen and body. For stubborn stains, lightly dampen cloth with water; do not use solvents.

CAUTION! Never spray liquids directly onto the player. Avoid abrasive cleaners. Store in a cool, dry place.
