Installation

Unpack all components and inspect for damage. Place the player on a stable, level surface with adequate ventilation.

  1. Connect to TV: Use component video cables (Y, Pb, Pr) for best quality, or composite video (yellow RCA).
  2. Connect audio: Use optical or coaxial digital cable to AV receiver, or analog RCA cables (red/white) directly to TV.
  3. Connect power: Plug the AC power cord into a standard 120V outlet.
  4. Ensure all connections are secure before powering on.

WARNING! Do not place heavy objects on the player. Allow at least 4 inches of clearance on all sides for proper ventilation.

First-Time Setup

Power on the player and TV. Follow initial configuration steps.

  1. Select language: Use the SETUP menu to choose menu language (English, French, Spanish).
  2. Configure video output: Set TV TYPE (4:3 or 16:9) and OUTPUT FORMAT (Interlaced or Progressive).
  3. Configure audio: Set DIGITAL OUTPUT (PCM, Bitstream, or Off) and DYNAMIC RANGE CONTROL.
  4. Set parental control: Establish a 4-digit password (default: 0000) if desired.
  5. Test playback: Insert a DVD to verify proper operation.

CAUTION! Use the correct video cable type for your TV's capabilities to ensure optimal picture quality.

Connecting Devices

TV Connection: Component video (recommended) or composite/S-video. Audio System: Optical/coaxial digital to AV receiver. Alternative: Analog RCA to TV or amplifier.

  1. Turn off all devices before making connections.
  2. Match cable colors to jacks (red/white for audio, green/blue/red for component video).
  3. Set TV to correct input source (Component, Video 1, etc.).
  4. Configure player output settings to match your TV's capabilities.

Tip: For progressive scan output, ensure your TV supports 480p and use component video cables.

Playing Disc Media

Supports DVD-Video, audio CDs, and MP3 CDs.

  1. Insert disc: Press OPEN/CLOSE, place disc label-side up, close tray.
  2. Play: Press PLAY; disc menu may appear for selection.
  3. Navigation: Use arrow buttons and ENTER to select menu items.

WARNING! Do not move player during disc playback. Do not use damaged or irregularly shaped discs.

Advanced Features

Parental Control: Restrict playback by movie rating (G, PG, PG-13, R, etc.) in SETUP menu. Custom Picture Settings: Adjust picture parameters in CUSTOM SETUP. Bookmark: Press MARK during playback to set resume point. Display Options: Show elapsed time, remaining time, or chapter/track info.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug player before cleaning. Use soft, dry cloth for exterior. For lens cleaning, use approved CD/DVD lens cleaning disc only.

CAUTION! Never use solvents, chemicals, or abrasive cleaners. Do not open the cabinet as there are no user-serviceable parts inside.
