Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near your TV and audio system.

  1. Connect to TV: Use the included composite A/V cable (yellow/white/red) or Component Video cables for best quality.
  2. Connect to Audio System: Use the digital audio output (coaxial or optical) to your receiver for surround sound.
  3. Plug the AC power cord into a wall outlet.
  4. Ensure all connections are secure before powering on.

WARNING! Do not place the unit in an enclosed cabinet without proper ventilation. Ensure all connections are correct to avoid damage.

First-Time Setup

Power on the player and your TV. Set your TV to the correct video input.

  1. Initial Screen: The Sony logo or main menu should appear.
  2. Language Setup: Use the SETUP button on the remote to select your preferred menu language.
  3. Video Output: In the SETUP menu, configure the video output to match your TV (e.g., Component, Progressive Scan).
  4. Audio Settings: Configure digital audio output format (PCM or Bitstream) based on your receiver.
  5. Parental Control: Set a password if desired (default may be 0000).

Access the main menu by pressing the SETUP button on the remote. Front Panel: POWER, OPEN/CLOSE, PLAY, STOP, PAUSE, SKIP buttons.

Remote: POWER, Numeric buttons, MENU, CURSOR (Up/Down/Left/Right), ENTER, RETURN, TITLE, DISPLAY, AUDIO, SUBTITLE, ANGLE, REPEAT, CLEAR.

Setup Menu: Language, Screen Setup (TV Type, Display Mode), Audio Settings (Digital Output, Dynamic Range), Parental Control (Level, Password), Custom Setup (Progressive Scan, Quick Start). Playback Settings: Use the remote during playback for Title Menu, Chapter Search, Audio/Subtitle Selection, Zoom, and Slow Motion.

Connecting Devices

TV: Use Component Video or Composite Video cables. Audio System: Use Digital Coaxial/Optical or Analog Audio cables.

  1. Turn off all devices before making connections.
  2. For best picture, use Component Video (green, blue, red) to a compatible HDTV.
  3. For surround sound, connect the digital audio output to an AV receiver.
  4. Select the corresponding input on your TV and receiver.

Playing Media

Supports DVD-Video, Video CD, Audio CD, MP3, JPEG.

  1. Insert disc: Press OPEN/CLOSE, place disc label-side up, press OPEN/CLOSE again.
  2. Play: Press PLAY; the disc menu may appear. Use cursor buttons to navigate.
  3. Navigate: Use PREV/NEXT to skip chapters/tracks. Use NUMBER buttons for direct access.
  4. Special Functions: Press TITLE to go to disc menu. Use AUDIO or SUBTITLE to change tracks.
  5. Search: Press SEARCH or SCROLL during playback, then use number keys.
  6. Repeat: Press REPEAT to cycle through repeat modes (Off/Title/Chapter/All).
  7. Zoom: Press ZOOM during playback to magnify (press repeatedly to cycle).
  8. Resume: The player may remember the last stop point on some discs.

WARNING! Do not move the player while a disc is spinning. Do not use damaged or irregularly shaped discs.

Accessibility Features

Subtitle Selection: Press SUBTITLE during DVD playback to cycle through available languages. Audio Track Selection: Press AUDIO during playback to select different audio tracks or languages. Parental Control: Set a rating level (e.g., G, PG, PG-13, R) in the setup menu to restrict playback.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug the unit from the AC outlet before cleaning. Clean the cabinet with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn stains, use a cloth slightly dampened with a mild detergent solution.
