Installation

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place the player on a stable, level surface near your TV and audio system.

  1. Connect to TV: Use the included composite A/V cable (yellow for video, red/white for audio) or for best quality, use optional component video cables.
  2. Connect to Audio System: Connect the audio outputs (red/white) to your receiver or sound system for surround sound.
  3. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC outlet.
  4. Insert Batteries: Install two AA batteries into the remote control.

WARNING! Ensure the player is placed in a well-ventilated area. Do not block the ventilation holes on the sides and rear.

First-Time Setup

Power on the player and your TV. Set your TV to the correct video input (e.g., VIDEO 1, COMPONENT).

  1. Initial Language: The on-screen menu will prompt you to select a language for menus and on-screen displays.
  2. TV Type: Select your TV screen aspect ratio (4:3 or 16:9).
  3. Progressive Scan: If your TV supports it, enable Progressive Scan output in the SETUP menu for the best picture.
  4. Audio Settings: Configure Digital Output (PCM or Bitstream) based on your audio receiver's capabilities.

CAUTION! Do not move the player while a disc is playing or during fast access operations.

Controls and Settings

Access the main menu by pressing the MENU button on the remote. Front Panel: POWER, OPEN/CLOSE, PLAY, STOP, SKIP buttons.

Remote: POWER, Numeric buttons, MENU, CURSOR (Up/Down/Left/Right), ENTER, RETURN, AUDIO, SUBTITLE, ANGLE, DISPLAY, REPEAT, A-B, ZOOM.

Setup Menu Options: Language, Screen (TV Type, Progressive Scan), Audio (Digital Out, Dynamic Range), Parental Control (Level, Custom, Password), Display (OSD Time, Screensaver), Custom Setup (Default Reset).

Connecting to Your TV and Audio System

For optimal performance, use component video cables and a digital audio connection.

  1. Component Video (Best): Connect Y, PB, PR outputs to corresponding inputs on your TV.
  2. Composite/S-Video: Use for standard definition TVs.
  3. Digital Audio: Connect the OPTICAL or COAXIAL output to your AV receiver for Dolby Digital/DTS bitstream.
  4. Analog Audio: Use the red/white AUDIO OUT jacks for connection to a TV or stereo system.

Tip: Always turn off all equipment before making or changing connections.

Playing Discs

Supports DVD-Video, audio CDs, MP3 CDs, and JPEG photo CDs.

  1. Insert Disc: Press OPEN/CLOSE, place disc label-side up in the tray, press OPEN/CLOSE again to close.
  2. Basic Playback: Press PLAY. Use SKIP (>>I and I<<) to jump chapters/tracks.
  3. Pause/Still: Press PAUSE. Press PLAY to resume.
  4. Stop: Press STOP once to stop (resume possible). Press twice or OPEN/CLOSE to stop and eject.
  5. Search: Press SEARCH then use SKIP or numeric buttons to find a specific point.
  6. Title/Menu Navigation: Press TITLE to go to disc's root menu. Use CURSOR and ENTER to select.

WARNING! Do not use discs with labels, stickers, or protective seals as they may cause malfunctions.

Advanced Playback Features

Repeat: Press REPEAT to repeat a chapter, title, track, or all. A-B Repeat: Press A-B at start point, press again at end point to loop a specific section.

Zoom: Press ZOOM during playback to magnify the picture (2x). Use CURSOR to pan.

Audio/Subtitle/Angle: Press AUDIO, SUBTITLE, or ANGLE buttons to change available tracks during DVD playback.

Parental Control: Set a password and rating level (G, PG, etc.) in the SETUP menu to restrict playback.

Photo CD (JPEG): Insert a CD-R/RW with JPEG files. Use CURSOR to navigate and view a slide show.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug the player from the wall outlet before cleaning. Wipe the cabinet with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn stains, use a cloth slightly dampened with a mild detergent solution.

CAUTION! Never use solvents such as benzene or thinner. Do not allow liquid to enter the ventilation slots or disc tray.
