Battery Installation

Install or replace batteries to operate the remote.

  1. Turn the remote over and locate the battery compartment cover on the back.
  2. Slide the cover in the direction of the arrow to open.
  3. Insert two AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) markings inside.
  4. Replace the cover by sliding it back into place until it clicks.

CAUTION! Use only AAA batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types. Remove batteries if the remote will not be used for an extended period.

Basic Operation

Using the remote with your Sony TV or device.

  1. Ensure the remote has fresh batteries installed.
  2. Point the remote directly at the infrared (IR) sensor on your device.
  3. Press the desired button. The remote's IR indicator should flash.
  4. For first-time use, you may need to program the remote to your specific device model (see Programming section).

Tip: Maintain a clear line of sight between the remote and the device's IR sensor. Distance should typically be within 8 meters.

Programming the Remote

To control a non-Sony device or a specific Sony model.

  1. Turn on the device you wish to control.
  2. Locate the 3-digit or 4-digit setup code for your device brand/model from the compatibility list or Sony's website.
  3. Press and hold the SETUP button (if present) or the device key (e.g., TV, DVD) until the remote's indicator light stays on.
  4. Enter the setup code using the numeric keypad. The indicator light will blink twice if the code is accepted.
  5. Point the remote at the device and press the POWER button. If the device turns off, programming is successful.
  6. If not, repeat steps 2-5 with another code for your brand.

Auto-Search Method: If codes are unknown, use the auto-search function by holding SETUP and pressing POWER repeatedly until the device turns off, then press SETUP to lock in the code.
