Initial Setup & Battery Installation

Power on the remote by installing batteries.

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the rear of the remote.

Programming the Remote

To control your Sony device, you may need to set the correct remote code.

Point the remote at the device and repeatedly press the POWER button until the device turns off. Press the MODE button once to store the code.
  2. Direct Code Entry: Refer to the code list in the appendix or online. Press and hold the MODE button. Enter the 3-digit code using the numeric keypad. Release the MODE button. Test the remote.
  3. Learning Function (if available): Place the original remote head-to-head with the RMT-D120E. Enter learning mode (see advanced manual). Press the button to be learned on the RMT-D120E, then press the corresponding button on the original remote. Repeat for other buttons.

Operating Your Devices

Basic operation after successful programming.

  1. Select the device mode by pressing TV, DVD, AUDIO, etc. The corresponding indicator may light up.
  2. Point the remote directly at the infrared sensor on your device.
  3. Use the standard control buttons (Power, Volume, Channel, Navigation, Play/Pause, etc.) as you would with the original remote.
  4. To switch control to another device (e.g., from TV to DVD player), press the corresponding mode button first.

WARNING! Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the device's IR sensor. Bright sunlight or fluorescent lights can interfere with the signal.

Advanced Functions

Macro Programming (if supported): Program a sequence of commands to a single button (e.g., "Watch DVD" to turn on TV, set to correct input, and turn on DVD player). Volume Lock: Lock volume control to a specific device (e.g., audio system) even when in TV mode. Reset: Restore remote to factory default settings by removing batteries, pressing and holding POWER for 5 seconds, then reinserting batteries.

Care & Maintenance

Clean with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
