First-Time Setup

Prepare remote for initial use.

  1. Install batteries: Open battery compartment on back, insert 2 AAA batteries observing correct polarity (+/-).
  2. Select device mode: Press corresponding mode button (TV, DVD, etc.) to control that device.
  3. Test operation: Point remote at device, press Power to turn on/off.
  4. Program if needed: If device not responding, use code programming (Section 6).

CAUTION! Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types.

Programming the Remote

To control non-Sony devices or if pre-set codes don't work.

  1. Turn on device to be controlled.
  2. Press and hold corresponding MODE button (e.g., TV) until LED blinks twice.
  3. Enter 3-digit code from code list (see manual appendix).
  4. LED blinks twice if accepted; test remote functions.
  5. If not working, try next code for your device brand.

Auto Search: If codes unknown, point remote at device, hold MODE+Power until LED blinks, then press Power repeatedly until device turns off, then press OK to store.

Operating Devices

Basic operation for each device type.

  1. Select mode: Press TV, DVD, AUDIO, etc.
  2. Power: Press POWER button for that mode.
  3. TV: Use number pad for channels; Input to switch sources; Menu for settings.
  4. DVD/Blu-ray: Use playback controls (Play, Pause, etc.); Menu for disc features.
  5. Audio: Volume controls work in all modes; AUDIO mode for source selection, sound modes.
  6. Cable/Satellite: Number pad for channels; Guide for program listings.

Tip: Volume buttons often control TV or audio system volume regardless of selected mode.

Advanced Functions

Macro programming: Program sequence of commands to single button.

  1. Hold SETUP until LED blinks twice.
