Initial Setup

Unpack remote and inspect for damage. Ensure compatible devices are within line-of-sight.

  1. Install batteries: Open battery compartment, insert two AA batteries observing polarity.

  3. Power on device: Aim remote at device, press POWER button to test basic control.

WARNING! Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types. Keep batteries away from children.

Programming the Remote

Two methods: Direct Code Entry or Auto Search.

  1. Direct Code Entry: Find code for your device in manual's compatibility list. Press and hold SETUP until mode light stays on. Enter 3-digit code. Mode light blinks twice to confirm.
  2. Auto Search: Press and hold SETUP until mode light stays on. Press POWER repeatedly until device turns off. Press SETUP to lock code. Test other functions (VOLUME, CHANNEL).
  3. Learning Function: Place original remote head-to-head with RMT-D143A. Press LEARN on RMT-D143A, then press desired button, then press corresponding button on original remote. Repeat for all desired commands.

CAUTION! Perform programming in normal room lighting, avoid direct sunlight or strong IR sources.

Using Learning & Macro Functions

Learning: Used for commands not pre-programmed or for non-Sony devices.

  1. Press and hold LEARN button until indicator lights.
  2. Press button on RMT-D143A you wish to assign.
  3. Aim original remote at RMT-D143A's sensor (within 3cm).
  4. Press and hold original remote's button until RMT-D143A indicator blinks rapidly.
  5. Repeat for additional commands. Press LEARN to exit.

Macro: Records sequence of up to 10 commands across different modes.

  1. Press and hold MACRO until indicator lights.
  2. Press macro button (1, 2, or 3) to store sequence.
  3. Press buttons in desired sequence (include mode switches if needed).
  4. Press MACRO again to end recording.
  5. To execute, press MACRO then the assigned macro number.

Battery Installation

  1. Slide open battery cover on rear.
  2. Insert two AA batteries, matching + and - markings.
  3. Close cover securely.
  4. If display shows low battery icon, replace both batteries promptly.

Tip: Remove batteries if remote will not be used for extended period to prevent leakage.
