Initial Setup & Battery Installation

Unpack remote and inspect for damage. Install batteries before first use.

  1. Open battery compartment: Slide cover on back of remote.
  2. Insert batteries: Use two AAA alkaline batteries, observing correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close compartment: Ensure cover clicks securely into place.
  4. Test remote: Point at device and press POWER to verify operation.

WARNING! Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types. Remove batteries if remote will not be used for extended periods.

Programming the Remote

Program remote to control your devices using code search or direct code entry.

  1. Turn on device you wish to control (e.g., TV).
  2. Press and hold corresponding device button (TV, DVD, etc.) until indicator light stays on.
  3. Enter 4-digit code from code list (see manual appendix) using numeric keypad.
  4. Point remote at device and press POWER to test. If device turns off, programming is successful.
  5. If not, repeat steps 2-4 with next code for your device brand.

Code Search Method: Hold device button and POWER simultaneously until light flashes, then press CH+ repeatedly until device turns off, then press ENTER to save.

Learning Function

  1. Place both remotes facing each other, 1-2 inches apart.
  2. Press and hold LEARN button on Sony remote until indicator stays lit.
  3. Press device button (TV, DVD, etc.) you want to program.
  4. Press button on Sony remote you want to assign the learned command to.
  5. Press corresponding button on original remote. Indicator flashes twice if successful.
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 for additional commands. Press LEARN to exit.

Note: Some commands (like POWER) may not be learnable. Maximum 20 learned commands.

Macro Programming

Create one-touch operation sequences (e.g., "Watch DVD" turns on TV, switches to HDMI input, turns on DVD player).

  1. Press and hold MACRO button until indicator lights.
  2. Press MACRO button again (1, 2, or 3) to select macro memory location.
  3. Press device and command buttons in sequence (up to 10 commands). Pause 1 second between commands.
  4. Press MACRO button to save. Indicator turns off.
  5. To execute: Press MACRO, then press assigned macro number (1-3).

Tip: Include 2-second delays between power commands to allow devices to initialize.

Resetting the Remote

Reset to factory defaults if remote malfunctions or to clear all programming.

  1. Remove batteries.
  2. Press and hold POWER button for 10 seconds.
  3. While still holding POWER, reinsert batteries.
  4. Release POWER button when indicator flashes rapidly.
  5. Wait 30 seconds, then remove and reinsert batteries again to complete reset.

CAUTION! Reset erases all learned commands, macros, and custom programming.

Care & Maintenance

Clean with dry, soft cloth. Avoid liquids, solvents, and abrasive cleaners.

  1. Remove batteries before cleaning.
  2. Use cotton swab slightly dampened with water to clean button contacts if unresponsive.
  3. Store in cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

WARNING! Do not disassemble remote. No user-serviceable parts inside.
