Initial Setup & Battery Installation

Prepare remote for first use by installing batteries.

  1. Turn remote over and locate battery compartment on back.
  2. Slide cover open in direction of arrow.
  3. Insert two AAA batteries, observing correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close battery compartment cover securely.
  5. Point remote at device and test basic functions (Power, Volume).

CAUTION! Use only AAA batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types. Remove batteries if remote will not be used for extended periods.

Programming the Remote

Program remote to control your Sony or compatible devices.

  1. Turn on the device you want to control (e.g., TV).
  2. Press and hold the corresponding DEVICE button (e.g., TV) for 3 seconds until indicator light blinks twice.
  3. Enter the 3-digit code for your device model (see code list in appendix or online).
  4. If code is accepted, indicator light blinks twice. Test functions (Power, Volume).
  5. If not working, repeat steps with next possible code.

Tip: For auto-search method, press and hold DEVICE button, then press POWER repeatedly until device turns off, then press OK to save.

Using Macro Functions

Program a sequence of commands to execute with one button press.

  1. Press and hold MACRO button for 3 seconds until indicator lights.
  2. Press the DEVICE button you want to program the macro to (e.g., TV).
  3. Press the sequence of buttons you want to record (e.g., POWER, INPUT, 1, OK).
  4. Press MACRO again to end recording. Indicator turns off.
  5. To execute, press the programmed DEVICE button, then MACRO.

Example Macro: "Watch DVD" = Turn on TV, switch to HDMI 1, turn on DVD player, press PLAY.

WARNING! Macro sequences are limited to 20 commands. Ensure devices are within range during programming.

Learning Function for Non-Sony Devices

Teach remote commands from another remote control.

  1. Place both remotes facing each other, 2-5 cm apart.
  2. Press and hold LEARN button on Sony remote for 3 seconds until indicator lights.
  3. Press the button on Sony remote you want to program (e.g., AUDIO button under DVD mode).
  4. Press and hold the corresponding button on the original remote until Sony remote's indicator blinks rapidly.
  5. Repeat for additional buttons. Press LEARN to exit.

NOTE: Not all buttons are learnable. IR commands only; not for RF or Bluetooth.

Care & Maintenance

Remove batteries before cleaning. Wipe with soft, dry cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.

CAUTION! Avoid extreme temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight. Do not drop or disassemble.
