Initial Setup & Battery Installation

Unpack remote and inspect for damage.

  1. Open battery compartment: Slide cover on back.
  2. Insert batteries: Place 2 AAA batteries, observing correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close compartment: Secure cover until it clicks.
  4. Test remote: Point at device, press POWER for selected mode.

WARNING! Do not mix old and new batteries. Remove batteries if not used for extended periods to prevent leakage.

Programming the Remote

Program using auto-search or direct code entry.

  1. Turn on device to be controlled (e.g., TV).
  2. Press and hold SETUP button until mode LED blinks twice.
  3. Press mode button (TV, DVD, etc.) for device type.
  4. Enter 3-digit code from code list (see manual appendix) OR press CH+ repeatedly until device turns off.
  5. Press SETUP to lock code.
  6. Test functions (Volume, Power, etc.).

CAUTION! Keep original remote for learning function. Ensure line-of-sight during programming.

Using Macro Functions

  3. Press MACRO button again to save sequence.
  4. Test: Press MACRO button to execute all commands in order.

Tip: Add 1-second delays between device commands by pressing SETUP during programming if devices respond slowly.

Learning Function (Custom Keys)

Learn commands from original remote for unsupported functions.

  1. Place remotes head-to-head (learning sensor to sensor), 1-2 inches apart.
  2. Press and hold SETUP and desired mode button until mode LED blinks twice.
  3. Press key on RMT-D187P to be programmed (e.g., INPUT).
  4. Press and hold corresponding key on original remote until RMT-D187P LED blinks twice.
  5. Repeat for other keys. Press SETUP to exit.

WARNING! Some proprietary codes (e.g., Bluetooth pairing) may not be learnable. Keep original remote within range.

Resetting the Remote

Reset to factory defaults if remote malfunctions or to clear programming.

  1. Remove batteries.
  2. Press and hold POWER button for 10 seconds.
  3. Reinsert batteries while still holding POWER.
  4. Release POWER; all mode LEDs will flash once.
  5. Reprogram remote as needed.

CAUTION! Resetting erases all learned codes and macros. Note settings before reset.

Care & Maintenance

Use soft, dry cloth to clean remote. Do not use liquids or abrasive cleaners.

CAUTION! Avoid extreme temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight. Replace batteries promptly when weak to prevent damage from leakage.
