Initial Setup & Battery Installation

Prepare remote for first use.

  1. Open battery compartment: Slide cover on back of remote.
  2. Insert batteries: Place two AAA batteries, observing correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close compartment: Ensure cover clicks securely.
  4. Test power: Press any button; LED should flash (if equipped).
  5. Program basic device: See Section 6 for initial code setup.

WARNING! Use only AAA batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types. Remove batteries if not using for extended periods.

Programming the Remote

Set up remote to control your devices using pre-set codes.

  1. Turn on the device (TV, DVD player, etc.) you wish to control.
  2. Press and hold the corresponding DEVICE button (e.g., TV) until the LED blinks twice.
  3. Enter the 3-digit code for your brand from the code list. LED blinks twice if accepted.
  4. Aim remote at device and press POWER. If device turns off, programming is successful.
  5. If not, repeat steps 2-4 with another code for your brand.
  6. Test other functions (volume, menu) to confirm full control.

Tip: If no code works, use the Auto Search method (see manual supplement) or Learning Function.

Learning Function

Teach the remote commands from an original remote.

  1. Place both remotes facing each other, 2-5 cm apart.
  2. Press and hold LEARN button until LED lights steadily.
  3. On RMT-D189P, press the button you want to program (e.g., INPUT).
  4. LED blinks. Immediately press and hold the corresponding button on the original remote.
  5. LED flashes rapidly during learning, then stays steady when learned.
  6. Press LEARN again to save and exit.
  7. Test learned command on your device.

NOTE: Some commands (like POWER) may not be learnable. Learning may fail if original remote uses non-standard IR signal.

Macro Programming

Record a sequence of commands to perform multiple actions with one button.

  1. Press and hold MACRO button until LED lights.
  2. Press the device button (e.g., TV) where you want to store the macro.
  3. LED blinks. Press the sequence of buttons (up to 10) with slight pauses between.
  4. Press MACRO again to end recording. LED turns off.
  5. To run macro, press the assigned device button once. Remote sends the sequence.

Example Macro: "Watch DVD" = 1. TV POWER, 2. TV INPUT to AV, 3. DVD POWER, 4. DVD PLAY.

CAUTION: Point remote at devices during macro recording and playback. Ensure delays between commands are sufficient for devices to respond.

Care & Maintenance

Keep remote clean and functional.
